The Gallagher Brothers

In the early 1990s, Gallagher’s younger brother Ron asked permission to use his Sledge-O-Matic routine in concerts. Ron regularly performs in smaller venues than those where Leo Gallagher performs.

Gallagher agreed on the condition that Ron, who looked very much like Leo, and his manager clearly stated in promotional material that they were performing as Ron Gallagher and not Leo Gallagher. After a while, Ron began promoting his role as Gallagher Too or Gallagher Two.

The promotion of Ron’s actions ignored the fact that he was not the original Gallagher on several occasions. This damaged Leo’s reputation, as did Ron’s off-stage problems. Both Liam and Noel have pursued solo music careers with varying degrees of success.

Gallagher simply asked his brother not to use the Sledge-O-Matic maneuver, but Ron continued the tour out of habit as Gallagher did. Gallagher filed a lawsuit against his brother for trademark infringement and deceptive advertising in August 2000.

Ultimately, the court ruled in his favor and an order prohibiting Ron from impersonating his brother in clubs and intimate settings was issued. The order also prohibits Ron from intentionally dressing up as Gallagher.
