Early life and education
Fahreta Jahić, born 20 October 1960, in Tuzla, PR Bosnia and Herzegovina, FPR Yugoslavia, is the youngest child of Abid Jahić and Ifeta (née Smajlović). She has two siblings: older sister Faketa and older brother Faruk.
Fahreta attended the University of Belgrade, where she studied tourism, but her passion for music remained strong. She performed with local bands during her studies and became famous in the early 1980s. Originally of ethnic Bosnian Muslim background, she is said to have converted to Serbian Orthodoxy after her marriage. .
Career
Lepa Brena, originally the lead vocalist of the band Slatki Greh, began her career in the early 1980s. The band, originally called Lira Show, became famous for its blend of folk music. Traditional space and modern pop music.
In 1981, they changed their name to Slatki Greh, and the following year, Brena and the band released their debut album. Čačak, Čačak (1982), written mainly by Milutin Popović-Zahar. This album launched Brena’s career and cemented her place in the Yugoslav music scene.

The song was released as an extended play, along with one other track. Her musical journey continued with the release of several successful albums such as Bato, Bato (1984) et Hajde da se volimo (1987), making Brena one of the most famous singers in the Balkans.
In 1991, Brena and Slatki Greh released their second to last album together, Zaljubiška. After a two-year hiatus, she returned in 1993 with her first solo album, Ja nemam drugi domand performed a famous “concert in the rain” in 1994, attracting 35,000 attendees.
After that, Brena released two more solo albums: Kazna Božija (1994) et Luda za tobom (1996), both of which were very successful.

Lepa Brena has been married to Serbian tennis star Slobodan Živojinović since 7 December 1991. Their wedding was an important media event in Yugoslavia.
Together, they have two sons: Stefan, born in 1992, and Viktor, born in 1998. Brena is also stepmother to Filip, Živojinović’s son, from a previous relationship. The couple continued to live together.
