Lerato Makhetha (born 20 August 1986), sometimes known as Lerato Mofokeng, is a creative South African actor, singer and songwriter. He is best known for his role as Ntando Sibeko in the SABC3 drama series Isidingo. He began his career as a musician, playing saxophone in various jazz bands in Johannesburg.

Early life and education
Lerato Makhetha was born on August 20, 1986 in Soweto, South Africa, his father is the famous South African veteran actor Jerry Mofokeng.
His father is a very popular figure in the entertainment industry. On the other hand, his mother’s name is Claudine Mofokeng. Although he was born in South Africa, he grew up in New York. His siblings are Tsakane Mofokeng, Palesa Mofokeng, Mpho Mofokeng, and Mosa Mofokeng.
When Lerato Mahta was one year old, his family moved to the United States. His father received a scholarship to Columbia University, so he decided to move to the United States.
However, his parents moved back to South Africa when he was four years old. In terms of education, he attended Sacred Heart College in Johannesburg. His dream of drama began at the age of 10. He attended Drakenberg Boys’ Choir School, where he received training in piano and voice.
After graduating from high school, Lerato Makhetha decided to continue studying music at the National School of the Arts (NSA), where he played the lead role in two musicals in 2001 and 2002. He obtained the National Higher Certificate in Popular, Jazz and Contemporary Music.

In November 2014, South African celebrity and actor Lerato Makhetha married his long-time girlfriend Phetola Makhetha, whom he had been dating since 2006. In 2012, Phetola Makhetha gave birth to their first child, a lovely daughter they named Lehakoe Makhetha. Their second child is also a daughter, named Leruo Makhetha.
