Early life
Durk was born in Englewood, South Chicago, Illinois on October 19, 1992 and grew up with a lot of responsibility as his father permanently went to prison when he was just 7 months old.
He recalls that when he was a child they often didn’t have enough food. His foray into social media was on platforms like MySpace and YouTube and started rapping because he loved the fan base he had.
He became a father at the age of 17 and dropped out of Paul Robeson High School to join a street gang called the ‘Black Disciples’. However, Durk got into a lot of trouble and was charged in 2011 with possessing a gun with a defaced serial number.
