Little Mix’s Jade Thirlwall is back with new music and it’s taking the internet by storm.

On 25 September, Thirlwall released her second solo single, “Midnight Cowboy”. The track was co-written by Raye and even included a spoken-word interlude by Doctor Who Ncuti Gatwa star.

Lyrically, the song focuses on owning your sexuality and the freedom that comes with it.

Since its release, the internet has exploded with praise for the song, with some even calling Thrilwall a “pop icon”.

“The two year wait for music was definitely worth it, Jade has vision as an artist and is destined to be a pop star,” another added.
“Jade’s debut album is about to be one of the most unique albums ever,” said another.

“Midnight Cowboy” is Thirlwall’s second solo single. She released her debut single “Angel of My Dreams” in July with similar backing. The song was a success upon release, peaking in the top 10 of the UK charts, becoming the second highest-charting single by a Little Mix member after Jesy Nelson’s “Boyz”.
Little Mix officially split in December 2021 to pursue solo projects. To date, Thirlwall, Perrie Edwards, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and, previously, Nelson, have all released solo material since leaving the group, with Thirlwall being the last member to do so.
Talk to Billboard Last year, Thirlwall discussed her solo career.
“This is basically my first time starting over, so I didn’t even know what it felt like to be famous while working on my own. I’m really grateful that I started this journey at this age, because I’m a lot calmer. I wouldn’t have been able to be a solo artist 10 years ago,” she said.
There is currently no release date for Thirlwall’s upcoming solo album.
