Liu Zixin, also known as Liu Qiuyan, was born on February 13, 1979 in Langkawi, Kedah, Malaysia to Chinese Malaysian parents. She has an older brother and a younger sister.

She immigrated to Singapore from Malaysia with her parents when she was very young. Her Chinese spelling is a six-character dialect. When she moved to Singapore, she changed her name to Jesseca due to the difficulty in pronunciation.
Jesseca Liu has a great personality. She can speak fluent Cantonese, Hokkien, Mandarin and English. As for her education, she graduated from Saito Academy in 2001.

In 2004, a producer from MediaCorp noticed Liu Zixuan and invited her to play the role of He Yixuan in the sports-themed TV series Champion, co-starring Taiwanese stars Toro, Yan Xingshu and Qi Yuwu. After the film premiered, she began her full-time acting career in Singapore.
In 2005, she starred in the 100-episode TV series “Family Portrait”, playing the role of Vietnamese bride Nguyen Mian Mian with veteran actors Peng Zhiqiang and Li Siqi.
