Early life and education
Tyler Steinkamp, aka Loltyler1, was born and raised in New London, Missouri, United States. He is 29 years old, born on March 7, 1995.

loltyler1 attended Central Methodist University and majored in computer science before leaving to pursue his streaming career. He was a linebacker for the Central Methodist University football team while there.

In 2014, loltyler1 was ranked 14th in the North American League of Legends rankings, although his stream only had a small viewership until 2016.
He first gained notoriety in the League of Legends community for his toxic streaming behavior, which included personal attacks on other players and intentionally losing games to disadvantage his teammates. Over the years, this behavior has resulted in permanent bans on 22 different accounts.
When loltyler1 publicly announced that he had “reformed” in April 2016, his stream exploded in popularity. His Twitch channel reportedly grew from around 5,700 followers before the announcement to over 92,000 by the end of the month.
His better behavior quickly faded, but his fan base grew, forcing several professional and celebrity athletes to criticize his actions. Those who were against loltyler1’s behavior argued that his popularity would promote and normalize toxicity among players, and they criticized developer Riot Games for not taking steps to prevent it.
In November 2017, loltyler1 hosted the Tyler1 Championship Series, an online League of Legends Championship Series (TCS). He broadcasted in front of a green screen with images of LCS stadiums and commentary desks as a parody of the League of Legends Championship Series (LCS).
Professional gamers and LCS commentators tuned in to watch the competition, which attracted over 200,000 concurrent viewers on Twitch. The winning team received $10,000 from loltyler1 alone, with no sponsor support.
