In this game, you play from a third-person perspective. You can use melee weapons (such as swords) and magic to fight enemies. What’s unique here is that there are two worlds overlapping each other. One is called Axiom, where living things are; the other is Umbral, where the dead are. You can switch between these two worlds using a special lantern. Sometimes places that are inaccessible in one world are accessible in another.

If your character dies, they enter the Shadow World and you need to return to the Axiom World to regain the experience points you lost when you died. But if you die in the Umbra, you’ll be returned to your last save point and lose any experience points you haven’t used yet. Save points in each area are rare, but you can create your own by collecting materials from monsters in the Shadow World.
