Lords of the Fallen Patch 1.1.193 and Updates

New Fallen Lords Patch 1.1.193

The new Lords of the Fallen patch 1.1.193 has been released on October 15, 2023. This is a regular update designed to improve players’ gaming experience. It resolves various crash issues, some of which were reported by players using the Sentry crash reporting tool.

Notable fixes include crashes related to specific in-game actions, as well as workarounds for crashes that occur on the first loading screen. Additionally, the patch introduces the option to manually activate DLSS frame generation for those who prefer higher frame rates. Auto settings were adjusted so that windowed fullscreen with vertical sync becomes the default. The price of the game remains at Rs 2,999.00.

Build notes

Sentinel Reporting Tool

As a note, the four crashes we fixed in today’s patch are direct reports from Sentry:

  • We’ve fixed a crash that could occur when the host was holding certain items.
  • We’ve fixed a crash that could occur when enemy AI moves sideways while targeting a player.
  • We fixed a crash that could occur in very specific circumstances when spawning destructible particles when using an umbral exit point.
  • We fixed a rare crash that could occur when displaying tendrils connecting spirits and their victims.

PSO calculation crash

Regarding the crash on the first loading screen, while we wait to work with EPIC for a permanent fix, thanks to MitoGouken we discovered another workaround:

  1. Go to “X:SteamsteamappscommonLord of the Fallen”
  2. Right click on “LOTF2.exe” – click “Properties”
  3. Go to compatibility tab
  4. Activate compatibility with Windows 8
  5. Disable full screen optimization
  6. Run the program as administrator

This is a better solution than the previous one, as it still uses precompiled shaders, ensuring you don’t experience microstutter when entering new biomes. We recommend trying this workaround first and if it doesn’t work then you can add “-nopsos” to access the game.

DLSS frame generation manual activation

  • Yesterday, we discovered via Sentry that DLSS frame generation was one of the main causes of crashes for the vast majority of 40-series GPU owners, so we disabled DLSS frame generation globally.
  • However, some community members asked us to reactivate it as they had no issues and preferred the higher frame rates it provided.
  • While we won’t activate it by default until the issue is fully resolved, we have added a way to activate it manually if you wish by simply adding the launch option “-DLSSFG”.

Automatic settings adjustment

  • Windowed fullscreen with vertical sync is now the default.
  • The auto-set button will now set the game to windowed full screen and activate vertical sync.

Other fixes

  • We fixed an issue where attacking enemies from behind would sometimes not deal extra damage.
  • We’ve fixed several rare crashes in USteamUtilsSubsystem that occurred when Steam was closed but the game was still being played.

virtual photographer

We would like to give a special thanks to GwynVP for creating the incredible virtual photography using our 3D Photo Mode. Her artwork appears in these patch notes and also on the launch screen at the beginning of the game. Check out her Twitter account; she has tons of amazing art to look at.

Lord of the Fallen gameplay

In this game, you play from a third-person perspective. You can use melee weapons (such as swords) and magic to fight enemies. The way you fight in this game is similar to other games like Dark Souls, which means it’s challenging. You can explore the game’s story alone or with friends.

You can also compete with other players in multiplayer mode. At the beginning of the game, you can create your character and choose from nine character types. The game world is quite large, even larger than the 2014 version.

What’s unique here is that there are two worlds overlapping each other. One is called Axiom, where living things are; the other is Umbral, where the dead are. You can switch between these two worlds using a special lantern. Sometimes places that are inaccessible in one world are accessible in another.

If your character dies, they enter the Shadow World and you need to return to the Axiom World to regain the experience points you lost when you died. But if you die in the Umbra, you’ll be returned to your last save point and lose any experience points you haven’t used yet. Save points in each area are rare, but you can create your own by collecting materials from monsters in the Shadow World.
