Enhance your weapon upgrade skills
Learn how to increase your weapon upgrade capabilities with our Corrupted Rune Tablet guide, including whether you should choose to unleash Sparky.
Meet Geralind the Blacksmith
During your early adventures in Lords of the Fallen, you meet Gerind. She’s a blacksmith and will upgrade your weapons once freed from her cell.
The Importance of Rune Tablets
While Grinder can upgrade your weapons using upgrade materials, she will mention that her skills can be improved further if you find some rune tablets. There are 3 in total, each giving Gerlinde the ability to add runes to your weapons and shields.
Free Glinde
If you haven’t freed Grinder yet, she will be encountered in a cell during the final part of the descent through Pilgrim’s Habitat. To free her, all you need to do is kill the nearby patrolling knight and interact with his body to obtain the cell key, which you then give to Grinder. Return to the central area and you’ll find that Glinde has now taken the once vacant forge as her own.
Location of the Fallen Rune Lord Monument
Each of the 3 Rune Tablets looks like a normal pickup in the world (a yellow orb with a small beam of light on it), but they are all in fixed locations.
-
Cracked Rune Tablet: The first tablet is found in Fitzroy Gorge after entering the cave section halfway into the area. After crossing the shadow bridge extending from the wooden ramp, continue forward through the gap in the wall.
-
Shattered Rune Tablet: The second Rune Tablet is located on the main road in the Upper Kalaras Mines. Halfway through, you’ll open a door and enter a mostly intact building. Go down and there will be a few enemies near the fireplace. The fireplace is where you can find the Shattered Rune Tablet.
-
Rune Tablet: The final tablet can be found in a chest in the Tower of Penance. The chest is located near the top of the tower, and descends a few floors to reach one of the floors with a grated floor.
Choose between Gerlinde and Sparky
After returning to Grinder with the last tablet, you’ll be faced with a choice. You can choose to give it to Gerlinde as you intended, or you can give it to Sparky and eventually let him be free. Giving the tablet to Sparky is naturally the best option, and it will also give you the “Travel Recovery” achievement/trophy. However, it’s also the most practical gaming option.
When you obtain the tablet, Spark will teach you how to improve your equipment without Gerind’s help. This allows you to upgrade your weapon and insert any relic’s runes. While Grinder says she’ll charge you more for her services by doing this, it only seems to result in a slight increase in the cost of energy for the items she sells.

Lord of the Fallen gameplay
Lords of the Fallen offers a third-person perspective, immersing players in an action-packed world. In this action RPG, you use melee weapons and magical abilities to defeat your opponents. The game draws inspiration from the Souls-like genre, offering a challenging gameplay and combat style.
Players can team up with others to complete the game cooperatively or participate in competitive multiplayer modes. At the start of the game, you have the freedom to create and customize your character from nine different character classes.
Lords of the Fallen has two interconnected realms, Axiom (the realm of the living) and Umbral (the realm of the dead), accessible via magical lanterns. Although Axiom and Umbral share the same physical space, certain areas can only be reached by switching between the two realms.
When your character is defeated, they are teleported to Umbral, where you must return to Axiom to recover lost experience points. Dying in Shadow results in respawning at the last save point and losing unused experience points. Save points are limited in each area, and resourceful players are encouraged to craft their own save points using materials obtained from shadow creatures.
Lord of Fallen Conspiracies
In the game’s story, a long time has passed since a powerful god named Adyr was defeated by three heroes called the Judges: a cunning hero, a religious hero, and a warrior time. These heroes are like demigods, ensuring that everyone follows strict rules and even minor mistakes are punished.
You play as Harkyn, an ex-criminal with a scarred face. A monk named Kaslo frees him from prison to stop a group of Adil evil creatures called the Rogar who are causing trouble near the Hand of God Mountains.
During his exploration, Harkon met the powerful Rogar leader from a mysterious place. With the help of the explorer Yetka, Hajin found a way to the Kingdom of Rogar and embarked on a journey to stop the invasion.
During the course of his adventure, he recovers a stolen item called the Travel Crystal, faces challenges, and ultimately faces Antanas, a human leader who holds a secret of his own. The story provides players with choices that lead to different endings, affecting the fate of Adil, Antanas, and the world.
