Loretta Webb was born in Butcher Hollow, Kentucky, on April 14, 1932, to Clara Marie “Clary” and Melvin Theodore “Ted” Webb. Ted worked as a coal miner and small-scale farmer. Loretta Young, a movie star, inspired her name.
