Lukhanyo Calata was born in 1982 into an apartheid-era Fort Calata family.
His father was one of the three most active anti-apartheid activists but was brutally murdered during apartheid in 1985.
Lucanio Calata lost his father when he was three years old, but after his father’s death, he learned from his mother how to firmly resist oppression.
