early life

Machine Gun Kelly was born on April 22, 1990 as Richard Colson Baker.

He was born in Houston, Texas, USA, but his native place is Cleveland, Ohio, USA.

His parents were missionaries who had moved to various parts of the European continent, from Egypt to Germany.

They’ve also lived in different parts of the United States, from Chicago to Denver to Cleveland, in no particular order.

He eventually settled in Cleveland with his father after his mother left home, and soon moved in with his aunt after his father lost his job and suffered from depression.

Machine Gun Kelly was bullied and abused by other kids in the neighborhood while growing up.

Due to his father’s plight, Colson also dropped out of school and began to carve a path for himself by visiting with seniors.

Machine Gun Kelly’s father, on the other hand, left him in the care of his aunt while he went to Kuwait to work for the army. Machine Gun Kelly was left to live in the basement of his aunt’s house.

The secret life in the basement led Colson to become addicted to drugs, but on the plus side, it also led to him recording his first amateur demo tape, which he titled Seal of Approval.

However, his father came back and took them both to the Middle Eastern country of Kuwait, but they were deported back to the United States a few months later and had to return to Cleveland to start a new life.

educate

Machine Gun Kelly MGK began attending Hamilton Middle School in Denver, Colorado, teaching a racially diverse group of students.

A few years later, he transferred to Thomas Jefferson High School, but he was unable to complete his studies because his father transferred him to Kuwait.

After returning to Cleveland, MGK attended Shaker Heights High School, where he eventually graduated and received his high school diploma.

Profession

Machine Gun Kelly, whose career has been varied as a rapper, singer, songwriter and actor, became known for the rapid and direct delivery of fire in his rap songs.

He began singing in sixth grade and released his first mixtape, “Stamp Of Approval” in 2006. The mixtape received positive reviews and MGK gained local fame, which led to him performing at local events in Cleveland.

The now-famous rapper released four more mixtapes before being snapped up and signed by Bad Boy and Interscope Records in 2011.

In October 2012, he officially released his debut album, Lace Up, which received positive reviews from critics. The album included hit singles such as “Invincible”, “Wild Boy”, “Shut Up”, “Stereo” and “Hold on (Shut Up)”, and ranked fourth on the US Billboard 200 chart.

In addition, he released the single “Till I Die and A Little More” from his second studio album General Admission in October 2015, which peaked at number four on the album chart.

In late 2016, Machine Gun Kelly MGK released the album “Bad Things” in collaboration with Camila Cabello of Fifth Harmony, which became his biggest hit in the industry.

The song debuted at number 80 on the Billboard Hot 100 and slowly climbed to number 10, giving both singers a record of top 10 hits as solo artists. The single “Bad Things” brought good news for singers MGK and Camila Cabello, who were nominated for and won the Best Rap Collaboration Award at the 2017 Radio Disney Music Awards.

The single was also used as the lead single from his third studio album, Bloom, which was released on May 12. It peaked at number 8 on the Billboard Top 200 chart. Machine Gun Kelly MGK has since released a string of hit singles, including “The Break-Up” and “Home,” featuring X Ambassadors and Bebe Rexha.

The song “Break Up” became the soundtrack of the Netflix series “Bright” and ranked 90th on the Billboard Hot 100.

The following year, Machine Gun Kelly MGK made headlines several times for his feuds with rappers Eminem and G-Eazy. Machine Gun Kelly MGK dissed G-Eazy during a jam session on Funkmaster Flex Radio, accusing him of copying his style and making “frat rats.”

As expected, G-Eazy released his own diss track, “Bad Boy,” to hit back at him, but MGK has yet to respond. While MGK ignored G-Eazy’s diss track, he quickly responded to Eminem’s diss of him in “Not Like” by releasing “Rap Devil” on September 3. The song topped the iTunes charts on September 10 and September 14, and he included it on his EP “Binge” released on September 20.

He subsequently released other albums such as Hotel Diablo in 2019 and Tickets To My Downfall in 2020.

In addition to music, Machine Gun Kelly MGK has also ventured into acting. He made his screen debut in the 2014 film Beyond The Light. He then starred in the Showtime comedy series Roadies in 2016 as Wesley aka Wes. He also starred in Viral, Punks Dead: SLC Punk 2, and Nerve in 2016.
