early life
Mackenzie Davis was born on April 1, 1987 in Vancouver, British Columbia.
Her parents were Lotte Davis (mother) and John Davis (father), who ran a hair salon.
To obtain her degree, Mackenzie Davis studied English and Women’s Studies at the University of Montreal, Quebec. She later studied acting at the Neighborhood Theatre in New York City.

After completing acting school in New York City, Mackenzie Davis struggled to find work in the entertainment industry. She made her screen debut in 2012 as Millie in the feature film Smashed, directed by James Ponsoldt. She had a small role in a short film called Alex, in which she played the role of Terry.
In the film, she co-starred with Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Aaron Paul. Her performance was so good that filmmaker Drake Doremus chose her to play the role of Lauren Reynolds in his 2013 American romantic drama film Breathe.
