early life

Magixx was born in 1999 to Mr. and Mrs. Alexander.

Born into a Christian family of Yoruba descent, he was raised by his parents to have a deep respect for his elders and his culture.

He grew up in Lagos mainland and spent his formative years in Ogba town.

As a child, he was fascinated by music and would spend hours listening to different genres including pop, hip-hop, reggae and highlife.

Influenced by artists like Fela Kuti, 2baba, D’banj, Shina Peters and many more, Magixx decided to try his hand at music and started writing lyrics to music from the comfort of his bedroom.

Over time, he went from just writing songs to performing them in front of crowds at school competitions and community carnivals.

At the time, he received positive reviews from audiences and solidified his decision to pursue music full-time.

He graduated from the West African School Certificate with distinction.

While still a student at the University of Lagos, Magixx was very active in the school’s music scene, often attending parties, shows, and concerts. At these events, he always showcased his musical creativity. This made him a well-known figure in the University of Lagos entertainment scene and helped him build a small but strong fan base.

In April 2019, he sang a cover of Burna Boy’s hit song “Dangote” and uploaded it to his Instagram page. The video went viral on the internet and has been viewed over 35,000 times. He has also released freestyle versions of popular songs.

On September 3, 2021, he released a cover version of the song “Sinner”. Like his other covers, the video went viral on Instagram, garnering over 43,000 views. The original song was sung by Adekunle Gold.

On September 23, 2021, music executive Don Jazzy announced Magixx as the latest artist to sign with Mavin Records. Magixx, who had trained as a student at Mavin Academy for several months, released his debut solo album, the Magixx EP, on the same day the signing was announced.

As a graduate of the Mavin Academy, Magixx joins a strong alumni network of successful music stars such as Crayon, Ayra Starr, Ruger, Johnny Drille and Rema.

Magixx’s EP is a five-song project that includes the following songs: Love Don’t Cost A Dime, Like A Movie, Pati, Gratitude, and Motivate Yourself. The visuals for Love Don’t Cost A Dime were shot by one of the best directors in the industry, K.

The video, uploaded to YouTube, had more than 8,100 views within hours of being posted. The video stars fashion model Sonia Kordi, while the fashion stylist contract went to Styled By Reus.

During the pre-launch phase of the project, Magixx worked closely with Mavin executives Tega Oghenejobo (COO) and Rima Tahini (A&R Director).

To bring timeless music to the audience, he also had to work with producers: Lomon Christopher, Randay, Kenny, Lex Luther and Naked Beatz.
