In 2000, Scott narrowly missed qualifying for the Olympics, losing to Jason Estrada in the trials and then to Michael Bennett in the playoffs. He turned professional that same year and has since amassed an impressive professional record, with just three losses.

Highlights of his professional career include wins over former amateur star Terry McGroom and journeymen David Bostice and Louis Monaco. He also had a significant run in 2007, defeating former rival Charles Shufford.
