Garneau has a strong academic background, having received a Bachelor’s degree in engineering physics from the Royal Military College in Kingston, Ontario, Canada in 1970 and a doctorate in electrical engineering from the College of Science and Technology. Marc Garneau is a Canadian astronaut who made significant contributions to space exploration. He was selected as one of the original six Canadian astronauts in 1983 and became the first Canadian to travel into space in 1984 aboard the space shuttle Challenger.
Since then, he has flown many missions, including STS-41G, STS-77 and STS-97, and held leadership positions within the Canadian Space Agency (CSA), including Chairman from 2001 to 2005. Garneau’s achievements inspired many people. and help advance the field of space exploration.
