Mariah Carey gives advice to Chappell Roan on how to handle the tough odds with fame

Mariah Carey is looking for Chappell Roan.

The legendary singer gave a new interview in which she was asked what advice she would give to young artists, especially Roan, on how to deal with sudden fame. Carey drew on her own experiences to give an insightful answer.

“Well, I’ve been through dramas and it’s not fun at all because when you grow up you think, ‘I want to be famous’. I mean, really for me, it’s always been ‘I want to be a singer. I want to write songs.’ But ‘I want to be famous’ also comes with it. I feel like maybe it’s because I don’t feel like I’m good enough because of the things I went through growing up feel, you know?” Carey told the Associated Press.

The “We Belong Together” singer then shared the advice she has for young artists on the rise.

“But my advice is to do your best to go into this industry with a love for your talent or something that’s really meaningful to you. You know, if it’s like, ‘I want famous. I want to run around with those people, whoever they are, famous people’ which is probably not the best idea,” she concluded.

Roan has shared many times about her struggle with her rapid speaking voice to gain fame over the past year. She achieved her first success with the song “Good Luck, Babe!” and a top 2 album with The rise and fall of a Midwestern princessbut have experienced the pitfalls that come with it.

In September, she sat down with face to talk about the dangers of fame and she likened it to abuse.

“This damn industry and art thrives on mental illness, exhaustion, overwork, overstress, no sleep. The older you get, the less healthy you are. Isn’t that so?” Roan speak.

“I told myself, if this gets dangerous, I can quit. Now it’s dangerous and I’m still going. But that part is not what I signed up for,” she added.

“The feeling of this — stalking, talking s— online, [people who] won’t leave you alone, yell at you in public – that’s what an abusive ex-husband feels like,” Roan concluded.

The pressure of fame has certainly weighed on Roan, and she recently abruptly canceled her appearance at the All Things Go festival. In a statement on her Instagram Stories, Roan revealed that things had become “overwhelming” for her.

“I’m sorry to everyone who’s been waiting to see me in NYC & DC this weekend at All Things Go, but I can’t perform. Things have been overwhelming these past few weeks and I’m really feeling it.” that,” she said.

“I feel pressured to prioritize a lot of things right now and I need a few days to prioritize my health. I want to be present when I perform and give the best performance possible. Thank you.” Thank you for your understanding. Come back soon xox,” Roan concluded.

Roan has also been the subject of criticism this presidential election season due to controversial comments she made which she later clarified, noting that she would not vote for Donald Trump in the upcoming election next.
