Early life
At the age of eight, Garritsen, also known as Martin Garrix (stylized as Mar+in Garri) and GRX, started playing guitar. Garritsen was greatly inspired by fellow Dutch DJ Tiesto and his performance opening the 2004 Athens Olympics. He downloaded a digital audio workstation and ‘FL Studio’ and taught himself how to make music.

Early life
Garrix was born on May 14, 1996, in Amstelveen, the son of Gerard and Karin Garritsen. He has only one sibling, Laura, his younger sister.
He showed an early passion for music and began playing the guitar at the age of eight.

After hearing Dutch DJ Tiesto perform at the Opening Ceremony of that year’s Summer Olympics in Athens, he expressed his desire to become a DJ in 2004. He was particularly inspired by the track “Traffic”, prompting him to download the dedicated digital audio workstation FL Studio and start producing.

Career
When Martin Garrix was 14 years old, he started his career as an EDM star by DJing at a high school disco.
After meeting Tiesto and being mentored by him, he released his debut singles, ‘BFAM’ (with Julian Jordan) and ‘Just Some Loops’ (with TV Noise).

In early 2014, he headlined the Ultra Music Festival for the first time.
