He then married Dutch model Annette Roque, whom he met on a blind date, in July 1997. After five months of dating, Lauer proposed to Annette Roque, and the two were married on October 3, 1998, in Bridgehampton, New York.
They have three children: a son named Jack Matthew Lauer, a daughter named Romy Lauer, and another son named Thijs Lauer.
In 2006, while Annette Roque was pregnant with Thijs Lauer, she opted for divorce after Matt Lauer suffered emotional distress, mental abuse, anxiety and torment. The couple reconciled a few weeks later.
