Meek Mill draws parallels to 2Pac’s struggles amid TV series ‘No Diddy Gang’

Meek Mill is defending Sean “Diddy” Combs after days of media reports that the multi-hyphenate icon may have done something inappropriate at the lavish party the rapper threw for the music mogul on year 2014.

The Philadelphia artist took to social media to express his displeasure, claiming the coverage was part of a widespread “media smear campaign” against black men.

Meek Mill took issue with several outlets, including Page Six, in a Twitter post, accusing the publications of egregiously lying about the 27-year-old birthday party that preceded the riot.

There have been reports of disturbing conditions allegedly left behind at the villa they rented, including smashed wine bottles and other rubbish.

“None of these publications are black-owned, posting things intended to destroy the culture’s name and brand!” Meek Mill writes, adding that there is an unfortunate trend of media outlets owned by non-minorities tending to publish articles that damage the reputations of leading black individuals .

None of these publications are black owned, posting things intended to destroy the culture’s name and brand! I stand on this side. I know someone is behind this! I will also start a war behind it when I find out!!!! pic.twitter.com/q3pKGYfSdN

In another post, he expressed concern about the consequences of such stories, saying, “They put black men in jail for stories.”

He also expressed hope that Diddy, who he called black, did not engage in the acts alleged in the reports.

Bringing Tupac Shakur into comparison, Meek Mill makes a strong statement saying that distorted images of Black artists in the media can lead to serious consequences.

“I understand why Pac is like that!” he tweeted.

According to the report, among the allegations regarding the accused party were allegations from a person – named Haight – who talked about broken bottles, used condoms and other things. This account also confirmed the participation of a number of celebrities at the party.

Meek made comments the same week that he went viral after fans caught him on video saying “there’s no Diddy gang” at a recent public meeting. He later rejected the term after backlash from that incident.

Meek Mill tweeted his support for Diddy and his thoughts on the media’s role in demonizing Black men in the industry as things unfold.
