Michael Bishop was cast as “Jonathan Kent” on Superman & Lois in September 2022 after the previous Jonathan, Jordan Elsass, abruptly left the show.
“Jordan Elsass has informed the studio that he will not be returning to Superman & Lois for season 3 due to personal reasons,” Warner Bros. said in an official statement. According to sources close to the situation, Jordan’s departure was the result of a personal matter, not a workplace issue.
So after Jordan left, the production team was thrown into a crisis as they had to rush to find a new Jonathan. “It was a whirlwind because everything happened so quickly. Luckily, Michael was available. He even flew in (on a plane, of course) from Australia, and then he got the part within a week and started filming right away. “I’m not kidding, when we did the reading with him — five days later, he was on set,” Elizabeth shared. “So it all happened really quickly and he took to it like a champ and we just went with it. I think people are really going to like him, he’s a great actor and a lovely person.”
