Miranda Cosgrove began her career in 2004 as the evil younger sister, “Megan Parker”, on the Nickelodeon series Drake and Josh. After the series ended in 2007, the actress went on to star in her own series called iCarly, in which she played “Carly Shay”.

iCarly ended in 2012. But the show was rebooted by Paramount Plus in 2021 and is currently in its third season.

On the show, Miranda’s character Carly has an interesting family arrangement. She’s essentially being raised by her older brother Spencer, while their father, a member of the Air Force, is stationed overseas (almost indefinitely). And their mother is mentioned!

But unlike in the movie, Miranda’s real-life mother, Chris Cosgrove, was always there for her.

Likewise, in the years that followed, she rarely missed an opportunity to congratulate her mother on Mother’s Day.

After all, Chris is more than just Miranda’s mom. Back in August 2011, when Miranda was involved in a bus accident, her mother was there by her side. It appears the duo were on a tour bus that crashed into an overturned tractor-trailer and was blocking the westbound lanes of Interstate 70 between St. Elmo and Brownstown.

After the accident, mother and child were taken to St. Anthony Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Chris Cosgrove is a housewife. She devoted her life to taking care of her husband and daughter, thanks to which Miranda is now a star.

Chris was initially skeptical about exposing his daughter to the entertainment industry at such a young age, but she relented when she saw the opportunity to earn money for college. “Our big plan when we decided to do this was to earn money for college,” Chris told The New York Times.

Looking back, Miranda also shared, “It took a long time for my mom to give in. I remember her asking, ‘Are you sure you want to do this? Are you sure you want to continue acting?’”

“I feel like everyone wants to find a way to break free and be independent, but for me, suddenly I had a place to live and I was like, ‘Oh no.’ My mom didn’t do my laundry and I didn’t have anyone to watch TV with at night,” she shared.
