Rico León is ready to bring some much-needed diversity to HGTV with Rico to the Rescue—representing the Latino community. In this eight-part series, you can expect to see a variety of Colorado families struggling with renovations, while Rico tries to analyze what went wrong with current construction projects.
Rico said he wants to be an advocate for families who desperately need someone with the compassion and experience to “turn a construction nightmare into a dream home.” He explained that whenever he gets a call for help, his goal is to resolve the conflict between the homeowner and the builder and do his best to complete the project.
Eagerly awaiting the show’s premiere (which is set for January 7, 2023), Rico wrote on his IG, “My new show is coming to HGTV. Rico to the rescue! Latest advice for both homeowners and contractors!”

Heavy claims that when Rico to the Rescue debuts, Rico will become HGTV’s only Latino host. They also note that 37 primetime shows debuted or re-aired on HGTV between January 1 and August 31, 2022. That adds up to 370 new episodes of television airing on the channel during that time—more than any other traditional cable channel—but with no Latino hosts or co-hosts and no Latino showrunners or directors.
It is surprising that this popular TV channel does not include any Latinos in their programming.
