Who are Mike Butler’s parents on the HGTV show?

Mike grew up in the construction industry and was born into a family of builders and artists. Mike was born in 1984. This makes him 38 years old in 2022.

The Perfect Vignette is an architecture, engineering, and design firm that the New York Institute of Technology alum works for and may have even co-founded with his wife. The firm has 12 employees at the moment. Mike’s role here is that of a mastermind. He often has to completely redesign the floor plan to fit whatever the client wants, while still maintaining the curb appeal.

Since graduating from college, Mike has focused on design and construction projects in every way possible, from small projects to building from scratch in Manhattan to completing the expansion at Gillette Stadium.

To be closer to family, Mike and Denese moved from Jersey City, New Jersey, to Boston in 2019 with their three sons, Ellis, 6, Felix, and Luca, 18 months. To make each project truly unique, Mike and Denese now collaborate with their father, who is both a GC and a carpenter.

Mike Butler, HGTV’s father, John Butler, is from Massachusetts. He was born in 1956, so in 2023, John will be 67 years old.

According to John’s Facebook, he attended Lexington High School, Lexington, MA, and graduated in 1974. He then attended Lowell Institute of Technology.

Additionally, in his career, John was the owner of Newfield Millwork where he worked as a cabinetmaker. Beginning in 2019, he worked at Consigli Construction Co., Inc. as a Field Operations Manager.

Mike’s father took him to construction sites throughout his childhood. But after college, Mike began specializing in design/build projects rather than following the traditional GC path. These projects ranged from small jobs to building from scratch in Manhattan to completing an expansion at Gillette Stadium.

Irene Butler is the mother of the Butler family. She was born to Lowell Wayne Sheppard on August 31, 1938. Sadly, her father passed away on March 22, 2017. Her mother’s name is Carole Butler.

Irene has at least one older sister, Margo Hebert. Margo studied BA Honours in Ottawa. She was previously the Marketing & Development Manager at Arts Network Ottawa / Réseau des arts d’Ottawa. She was previously a Marketing Officer / Agente de Marketing at Hydro Ottawa.

After the show’s premiere, Margo posted on her FB, “So while I used to pick up my little nephew and bring him into the house because he was bothering me and my nieces while playing hopscotch, I never thought that one day he would be making his HGTV debut! Congratulations to Michael Butler, his lovely wife Denese Butler and my brother-in-law John M Butler – good luck with this adventure! Miss Bug is so proud.”

Other members of Irene’s family include Dan Moylan, Shelly Grenier, Tania Menice, and Sarah Butler Moylan. Irene is from Ottawa, Ontario, which is also where some of her family members currently reside.
