“These kids come in and they make pate a choux, they make puff pastry, they make pie dough,” he told KTLA 5. “At first I was like, ‘I didn’t learn how to make these things until I was in my 20s, how can these kids do this?’ I started talking to them and they said, ‘We’ve watched 10 different videos on YouTube on how to make pie dough.’ They just have to figure it out.”

Duff claims that it came to him; in fact, he was shaving in the tub when he suddenly realized how much he loved her. Hours later, at an Easter dinner with Johnna’s family, he proposed, after first consulting her mother. Their engagement came about a year before the wedding, when Duff popped the question in April 2018 on a whim after having a premonition about Johnna. “It was weird. I was in the shower, I was shaving my head, and I felt like I got punched in the heart. It was like, ‘Boom! There was no diamond ring for Johnna because he wasn’t planning on proposing at the time. The Food Network star decided to wrap her finger in twine instead. The glamorous couple later tied the knot in January 2019 at the Natural History Museum in Los Angeles after Johnna chose “a really simple, beautiful, thin ring.”
“I told her she could choose any ring she wanted and she chose a thin ring, very simple and beautiful,” he said.

Duff, a chef and foodie, made sure the ceremony included baked goods; they were shaped like cakes, one of which was made entirely of meat. They were planned by Duff and his team and were the much-anticipated highlight of the small ceremony. After the ceremony, which was arranged by celebrity wedding planner Mindy Weiss, Duff and his wife immediately headed to Thailand to begin their honeymoon. The couple were quite excited about the two-month trip around the world that would be the second part of their honeymoon.
