Men who seek guidance from male relationship experts like the late Kevin Samuels will be “single” for the rest of their lives if they don’t improve their “communication skills” and “emotional intelligence,” she said.
Naturally, the video went viral on TikTok with over 200,000 views and was also shared on Twitter by people with their own social and political agendas. Soon, hateful comments began flooding in. But instead of backing down, the therapist stood her ground and continued to make more videos supporting her views, even calling men “dust” in another viral TikTok.
A week after the first video, Bree then released another video in which she alleged that her video was being used to start a gender war and that people were assuming that her comments were only directed at black men. And while this was also happening, some users were rejecting her work and demanding that she be fired from the company, which eventually happened.
So after Bree lost her job, she apologized on her platform and shared her negative online experience on her page and other media outlets. “I have been harassed and received more death threats than I can count; my social media pages have even been reported. Since posting that video, I have struggled with depression and my life, safety and well-being have been compromised,” she explained.
As a result, she felt “the need to reclaim my name and let people know that there is a real person behind my content.” She claimed that the only reason she was “penalized online” was because of the way she delivered.
“It’s not what I said, it’s how I said it. But I’m just being myself, and if you follow me, you know that’s how I talk. My approach may be rude, but I’m just being direct. However, nothing I said in that video was wrong,” she once again maintained her stance.
