But there was one thing that immediately gave away that the revealer would be Michael—the percussionist was holding a piece of paper with the online event information and four words written on it, “I am Michael Pfaff.”
The next Reddit AMA post reads as follows. “Hi Reddit. My name is Michael Pfaff. I am the percussionist in Slipknot. The first leg of our Headline Tour in the US (March 16-April 17) kicks off tonight with In This Moment and Wage War,” Michael wrote.
Naturally, the thread was flooded with fans asking him a bunch of questions. In short, the reveal day was the moment Michael felt like he was “no longer the new guy in the band.” Plus, standing next to all the band members, Michael felt “pretty powerful.”
While this was a revelation, most of Slipknot knew that Michael was the man behind the “Tortilla Man” mask. “Finally Michael Pfaff Tortilla confirmed, wish it was sooner because now it feels like old news,” one fan wrote.
Michael’s relationship with Slipknot dates back long before 2019 (when he joined the band). He was reportedly first introduced to Clown by Sid Wilson in the 2000s, and together they formed an alternative rock band called Dirty Little Rabbits with Michael on keyboards and organ and Clown on drums.
In 2019, he received a phone call while working at the company and the next thing he knew, he was a member of the band Slipknot.
