Ghost is not a technology enthusiast.
The metal band recently announced that they will be embarking on a world tour in 2025. Starting in April, the tickets have fine print at the bottom that all fans should read before attending, because the trip was planned a “phone-free experience.”
According to NJ.com, Ghost will make fans attending their concerts put their devices in Yondr bags before entering each venue where they will perform.
“This show will be a phone-free experience. Phones will be secured in Yondr bags. Guests have ownership of their phones at all times,” the website says.
However, guests can access their phones if there is an emergency in one of the designated phone zones on site.
This isn’t the first time Ghost has implemented a no-phone policy at one of their concerts. They previously did so during the band’s September 11 and 12 shows last year at the Kia Forum in Inglewood, California. Those shows were being filmed for the band’s concert film Rite Here Rite Now.
Papa Emeritus IV expressed his joy at the decision to hold the concert without phones in an interview with Rock music sound.
“I’ve never seen the crowd interact the way they did since I was in a club band. Those were the best shows I’ve ever done with Ghost, just because I didn’t have to watch the damn thing on mobile.” phone,” he told the outlet.
This is not the first time an artist has introduced a similar policy. Previously, other artists like Alicia Keys and Jack White have also done this.
According to NBC, “We thought you’d enjoy looking from your devices for a bit and experiencing music and our shared love of it LIVE.”
“For those who want to do some social media posting, let us help with that. Our official tour photographer will post photos and videos after the show. Repost photos and our videos as much as you like and enjoy 100% phone-free human experience,” he added.
