Mike Kennedy was born on March 15, 1963, in Anchorage, Alaska, to Bonnie Kennedy and Robert C. Kennedy. As his father was a pilot for United Airlines, he was fascinated by flying at an early age.
At age 13, he built his own miniature electric model airplane at home and earned his private pilot’s license through flight school during high school, graduating with honors in 1981.
Mike Kennedy went to college after high school with a full scholarship for track and field, but he dropped out to pursue a career in racing. His childhood was full of adventures. His family went on many adventures. When he was 15, his father taught him how to fly. He remembers how much it was fun to learn something new about flying at such a young age.

Mike Kennedy was married to Valerie Kennedy. The couple also had children. He was killed in a three-vehicle crash on the freeway on Friday, September 1, 2018, at the age of 59. The accident occurred near Del Mar, California.
His death was confirmed by multiple sources, including the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department. The cause of death has not yet been released, but Mike Kennedy was reportedly driving a black Ford Mustang GT 500 when it struck another vehicle, then hit two trees and caught fire.
