At the age of nine, Laverton demonstrated her musical talent by winning first prize in a school competition. Despite financial difficulties, Laverton’s passion for music continued to grow, and at the age of thirteen, she received a scholarship to study music at the conservatory in her hometown.

However, she preferred to teach herself, honing her skills by playing in bars in Viña del Mar and Valparaiso. It was during this time that she began writing her own songs using a guitar she had received as a contest winning prize.

In 2007, Lavert made a dramatic decision to pursue her musical dreams by moving to Mexico, where she began performing in nightclubs and recording covers. Despite setbacks, including a 2009 diagnosis of thyroid cancer, Lavert persevered and adopted the stage name “My Lavert” as a symbol of a new beginning.
