John Ancrum (born December 15, 1984), commonly known as Murda Mook, is an American rapper and songwriter based in Harlem, New York.
He is best known for his vulgar lyrics, which have earned him a large following among hardcore hip-hop enthusiasts.
Despite only having started performing in 2002, Murda Mook has already earned a place in the hip-hop community and has competed in several freestyle competitions on stages across the United States and Europe.

Murda Mook was born in Harlem, New York on December 15, 1984. He grew up in a tough environment and started rapping at a young age.

Murda Mook began his career as a battle rapper, competing against well-known Harlem rappers such as T-Rex and Loaded Lux. His breakthrough performance was against Jae Millz. He is now considered a “living legend” in the battle rap community due to his influence on nearly every member of the Ultimate Rap League.
Murda Mook also made a brief appearance on MTV2’s Monday Night Fight Klub outside of SMACK, competing against up-and-coming rappers including Verse, Cardi aka Deuce One, and most notably French Montana, then known as Young French.
Murda Mook joined Ruff Ryders in 2011. However, due to the independent record label, his music was never released. Instead, he renewed his contract with Busta Rhymes Conglomerate Records in 2016.
Murda Mook founded the Harlem rap group Dot Mob, which included his cousin T-Rex, Murda Mook, and A&R Louie Da 13th member Dutch Brown. K-Shine and NymLo were also members.
