TikTok star and personal chef Meredith Hayden is one of two children born to Nancy Hayden and Tom Hayden.
Meredith, born January 17, 1996, will turn 27 in 2023.
Meredith recently announced that she’s taking a break from the career that propelled her to fame. The TikTok star of WishBoneKitchen revealed on Friday that she’s “stepping away” from her position as a private chef. She rose to fame after filming videos documenting her crazy hours and massive dishes as a Hamptons-based private chef for fashion designer Joseph Altuzarra. She now has more than 2 million followers on TikTok.
Meredith began her video by explaining why she was leaving the Hamptons early. “This is exciting news,” she said with a grin. “I’m officially writing my first cookbook, which is both exciting and overwhelming at the same time.” She went on to say that she was facing some “pretty tight deadlines” to get the book published by 2025.
“I’m a very hands-on person, I can’t just hand this off to someone and not be very involved in every single recipe that goes into the book because you can put out a recipe book and not actually make any of the recipes, do you know that?” she asked. “I don’t know that.”
Meredith added that she was “so determined” to write and prepare every single recipe in the book. This implied that she would have to compile “over a hundred recipes in the next four months,” she said with a look of awe and a shaky laugh.
“To put it mildly, writing one recipe a week is hard,” Meredith said. “Now I’ll have to write five.” She said she doesn’t take “cutting the season short” lightly and that she’s sad to be out of work, but “life goes on.”
Meredith isn’t shy about how social media has helped her grow her brand and business, allowing her to turn her private chef services into a full-time business. She says that because she has sponsorships, she only works with one client and uses TikTok earnings to supplement her income.
“Before, I had to handle multiple clients at once, but with TikTok, I can focus on my main client,” she told Insider.
“Before I started doing TikTok and being a private chef was my only source of income, I had no idea how much other people charged,” she said. “The only thing I knew was how much I needed to charge to pay the bills.”
Meredith started by “working backwards” and setting her client fees based on the minimum she needed to earn each month. She later discovered that she was charging too little for her services. “I wasn’t really making any money or getting rich doing these jobs,” she says.
“I think I’m being clever by saying, ‘Oh, I’ll charge them an extra hundred dollars here and an extra hundred dollars there,’” Meredith adds. “But the reality is that the value of the service I provide is much higher than what I charge.”

Meet Nancy Hayden, Meredith Hayden’s Mother
Nancy Hayden is the mother of Meredith Hayden. She is the daughter of Nancy Jean Presnell Ralls and Dr. Marion Lee “Lefty” Ralls.
Nancy was born on August 4, 1928, to the late John Garland Presnell and Harriette Pringle Presnell. She graduated from Guilford High School and Guilford College with a degree in physical education. Jean was inducted into the Guilford College Athletic Hall of Fame and was an avid supporter of Guilford College.
In addition to Nancy, John and Harriette have children named John Ralls (Lynn Stafford Ralls) of High Point, Charles Ralls and Steven Ralls both of Greensboro, and daughters named Louanne Ralls Ledbetter (Dan) of Greensboro.
Born in March 1957, Nancy is 66 years old. She attended Western Guilford High School, then Appalachian State University.

Meredith Hayden’s father was named Tom Hayden. Tom was 66 years old in March 1957.
Tom is the CEO and executive vice president of Smithsonian Networks. He is also in charge of Showtime Networks, Inc. Smithsonian Networks, a joint venture between Showtime and the Smithsonian Institution, was founded and launched in large part by Tom. Tom worked for Kraft Foods, Inc. for 12 years before joining Showtime, where he held several sales and marketing positions. Hayden has served as board chair of the T. Howard Foundation since 2010, an organization that provides internships for young minority men and women in the media and entertainment industries.
Tom is the son of Thomas J. Hayden, Jr. and Joan Hayden. Born in Philadelphia, PA, Tom lived in Bala Cynwyd for most of his childhood and adult life. Prior to his retirement, Tom had a long and successful career at Girard Bank and its successor companies in Philadelphia. Tom is a graduate of St. Josephs Prep and Villanova University. Tom is also a longtime member of St. Matthias Church.
Thomas Jr. died on January 12, 2009 from complications of cancer, at the age of 76.
