“Back before I started TikTok and being a private chef was my only source of income, I had no idea what other people were charging,” she says. “The only thing I know is how much I need to pay my bills.”

Meredith started by “working backward” and setting her clients’ fees based on the minimum she needed to earn each month. She later discovered that she had been charging too little for her services. “I really don’t make any money or get rich from these gigs at all,” she said.

“I think I was too tactful in saying, ‘Oh, I’ll charge them an extra hundred dollars here and an extra hundred dollars there.’ But in reality, the value of the service I provide is much higher than the amount I charge,” Meredith added.
