Early life and education
Nazem Kadri, now 33, was born on October 6, 1990, in London, Ontario, Canada. He is the second of five children and the only son; the others include Reema, Yasmine, Sabrine, and Rayannes.
His parents, Samir and Suhayla Kadri, moved to Ontario from Kfar Danis, Lebanon. Kadri’s father, Samir, had a strong passion for hockey but could not afford to play the sport.

Career
Kadri’s hockey career began when he joined the Kitchener Rangers in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) after being selected in the first round of the 2006 OHL Priority Draft.
He then played for the London Knights, his hometown team.
In 2009, he was drafted by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the first round of the NHL Entry Draft. Kadri made his NHL debut with the Maple Leafs in 2010 and became an integral part of the team’s roster.
