NHL 24 Patch Notes 1.2.1

New NHL 24 patches and tweaks will be released starting Thursday, November 23rd at 12pm ET. Please complete all online matches before this time as servers may become unstable for up to an hour after the update.

Major fixes and improvements:

  • Fixed an issue that resulted in players entering the game wearing the default black EASHL jersey instead of their own jersey.
  • Hip checks now use default interference logic to create more consistent penalty calls.
    • The player doing the hip check needs to be fully within the hip check animation for the hip check to be successful.
    • Added logic to require a higher relative speed between the hip checker and the hitee to produce a larger hip check reaction.
  • The time it takes for the puck to leave the zone to end a full press has been reduced from 5 seconds to 3 seconds.
    • Reduced the negative attribute multiplier applied to pinned players during an all-in from 20% to 15%.
    • Removed the negative energy cost multiplier for teams on punishing kills to avoid double stacking with the all-in energy cost multiplier.
  • Greatly reduced the chance of CPU teammates being punished and made this consistent across all play styles.

Gameplay

  • Hip checks now use default interference logic to create more consistent penalty calls.
  • The player doing the hip check needs to be fully within the hip check animation for the hip check to be successful.
  • Players receiving hip checks can slow down before contact to help reduce the impact and reaction of the hip check.
  • Added logic to require a higher relative speed between the hip checker and the hitee to produce a larger hip check reaction.
  • When using the Total Control controller scheme, reverse shots are not triggered when the puck carrier is in the right stick stickhandle or Deke animation.
    • The skater must be in a neutral skate/glide position to trigger the reverse shot.

Other game fixes:

  • Fixed an issue where AI teammates would trigger stick restraints within a few frames, which could result in interference penalties.
  • Fixed an issue where shoulder checks could target a player without the puck, even if that player had lined up the puck carrier.
  • Fixed an issue in Be A Pro where players were unable to perform “Be A Pro” when using the Total Control controller scheme.

We’ve also released a new tuner set to coincide with the improvements in Patch 1.2.1.

  • For CPU goalkeepers, the maximum accuracy error increases when goalkeepers perform saves with low accuracy scores. This will lead to more shot opportunities that beat the goalkeeper cleanly and create more unpredictable results, especially as the goalkeeper becomes more fatigued.
  • The distance required to trigger the Thunderclap and Heatseeker has been reduced by 10 feet, allowing skaters to get closer to the net and take advantage of those X-factors for their shots.
  • Reduced the near-net power modifier for point-blank shots from 20 feet to 15 feet to increase the threat of shots fired from the slot.
  • Eliminates the energy drain a goaltender takes when the puck is on the defensive end.
  • Slightly increased the amount of stamina goalkeepers lose when making saves.
    • (Stamina consumption can be alleviated by durability attributes)
  • Increased the energy regeneration in the goaltender’s neutral zone to be the same as when the puck is in the offensive zone. (Endurance attribute increases energy recovery)
  • Greatly reduced the chance of CPU teammates being punished and made this consistent across all play styles.

Other game updates:

  • Lost the chance to trigger auto-battle when hitting the board.
  • The range within which defenders can pass the ball to the net is reduced from 40 feet to 30 feet, reducing the chance of receiving an interference penalty.
  • CPU goalie’s chance of making a Michigan save while in position increased from 30% to 80%.
  • Adjusted highlight score weighting for best player of the match/period to provide more highlights for important goals and big saves.

NHL 24 Game Features

NHL 24 offers an exciting change in gameplay compared to NHL 23. A new move called “Full Control Skill Moves” has been added, making it easy to perform fancy Dirk moves with just one click. The game introduces a new exhaust engine, goalkeeper fatigue, an improved passing system, and physics-based contact for a more realistic experience.

With comprehensive control of skill movements, players can effortlessly complete complex Dirk moves. The passing system has been revamped, allowing you to pass the puck to teammates using the controller’s four face buttons. The body check system is similar to Bruise Control in NHL 2004, allowing you to check for stronger, more successful shots.

You can even add to the intense action by pinning your opponent onto a bench and breaking the glass. NHL 24 also brings full cross-platform play for Hockey Ultimate Team and World of Chel, a feature missing from NHL 23. This means players can compete across different platforms, making the gaming experience more engaging.
