Nomsa Buthelezi (born 7 April 1982) is a talented South African actress and television personality.
She is widely known for her role as Awelani in the SABC2 drama Muvhango, and as the host of Our Perfect Wedding; a reality television show on Mzanzi Magic.
Nomsa Buthelezi has been a stage actress for over seventeen years and after filming a television commercial for Absa, she decided to try her hand at television in 2007.

Early life
Nomsa Buthelezi was born on 7 April 1982 in Alexandra, Gauteng, South Africa.
She grew up in Alexandra. Her parents are Vezi and Magdalene Buthelezi.
Her father, Vezi, initially suspected her sexual orientation because of her actions even though she had never publicly stated it.
She did not have the courage to reveal her sexual orientation to her parents because at that time, lesbianism was not fully accepted as it is today.
Education
Nomsa Buthelezi attended primary school in her hometown, she was a bright child and completed her secondary education at the age of 16.
She was unable to continue her university studies due to financial difficulties but was later admitted to a drama academy where she had to pay monthly tuition.
She completed a two-year course at the academy.
Career
For over 20 years, Nomsa Buthelezi has been active in the entertainment industry and appeared in many productions.
She is best known for her role as Awelani in Muvhango. Her popularity increased when she hosted Our Perfect Wedding, a reality TV show about Mzanzi witchcraft.
In 2013, she took on the role of Ma Mnisi in the drama series Isibaya. In 2017, she took on the role of prisoner Slender in Lockdown and also played the role in the Mzanzi drama Magic Prison until 2019 after two years.
In 2019, she made her debut in the SABC1 drama series on 8 August 2019.

At the age of 22, Nomsa Buthelezi was in a relationship with a man about whom little was known.
She wanted to keep this a secret from the public but had two children, a boy and a girl, with him.
Despite having two children together, Nomsa and her man decided to call it quits when it became clear their relationship couldn’t last forever.
Nomsa Buthelezi then lost her boyfriend Unathi to a stroke in 2013. After his death, she found love and started a relationship with Zandike Shezi.
On 28 September 2019, Nomsa Buthelezi married her lesbian partner, Zandike Shezi, a physiotherapist practicing in Ladysmith.
Their wedding ceremony was held in Alexandra, Nomsa’s hometown, and was attended only by family members and close friends.
