Oasis’ Noel and Liam Gallagher spark reunion speculation, but fans remain wary of false hype

Is Oasis really getting back together?

When Noel Gallagher hinted at a big announcement coming on Tuesday, eager fans couldn’t help but speculate that he could share news of the band’s long-awaited reunion.

The 57-year-old rock icon made the reveal via a short clip posted to X, which showed a date and time designed to mimic Oasis’ iconic logo. According to the clip, Gallagher suggested that the big reveal would likely take place at 8am on Tuesday.

Oasis’ official X account as well as Liam Gallagher also shared the trailer.

The image, which features a white rectangular box with a black block in the middle, shows the date “27.08.24” in the spot usually reserved for the band name. Suddenly, the box morphs and the display changes to “8am.”

The striking similarity between the tweets of the two warring brothers has further fueled speculation among fans about a possible reunion in the future.

“Oasis reunion? I wonder if my bank account can survive this,” @benonwine joked on X.

@holte said: “If I wake up early on Tuesday it’s definitely a reunion announcement, I need to sleep to get my beauty back.”

“MAKE MUSIC GREAT AGAIN!” @russthefuss_ joked.

However, other fans suggest that the announcement may not be as big as people expect.

User @rikgilbert didn’t want to get his hopes up too much, writing, “It would be funny if there was only a deluxe version of an album on an anniversary.”

“‘Definitely Maybe’ was released on 08/29/94, calm down everyone. Maybe this is just the anniversary version of the album,” @ItsBrianFire added.

@CincyHub tweeted: “I’m sure this is just a re-release.”

This Thursday marks the 30th anniversary of the release of Oasis’ iconic debut studio album, ‘Definitely Maybe’.

According to anonymous sources who spoke to The Sunday Times, Oasis are reportedly set to return in 2025 with 10 headline shows at London’s Wembley Stadium. There are also rumours that the band are planning additional shows in their beloved hometown of Manchester.

Tickets for the upcoming tour are expected to sell out quickly, the US Sun reports.

After years of conflict, brothers Noel and Liam are said to have made great strides towards reconciliation, leading to successful negotiations to reunite their band.

“This is a reunion that no one saw coming. Liam and Noel have been sworn enemies for over a decade, but they’ve been secretly reconnecting,” an unnamed source told the paper.

“A deal has been mooted, and they’ve both agreed — much to the surprise of those around them,” the insider added. “There will be concerts in the UK next summer and Noel and Liam are both excited to be back there together.”

Will the Gallagher brothers give fans the reunion they’ve been dreaming of? Only time will tell, but all eyes will be on the clock as fans await the reveal at 8am UK time on Tuesday.
