Okawa Shaznay (born May 29, 1986) is a charming and passionate Nigerian film actress and television personality.
She was the first Cameroonian to successfully break into the Nigerian film industry with her role in the blockbuster film “Iyore” starring Rita Dominic and Joseph Benjamin.

early life
Okawa Shaznay was born on May 5, 1986 in Bamenda, North West Province, Cameroon.
She grew up in her birthplace and at an early age developed an interest in performing arts, stage plays, and small film projects in her hometown.
In the 1990s, a large number of Nigerian films flooded into Cameroon, exposing her to the Nigerian film industry, which she gradually developed a love and admiration for.

Okawa Shaznay completed his secondary education at the Presbyterian Secondary School in Mankong, Bamenda, Cameroon.
In 2005, she moved to the United States to study at Texas Southern University, graduating in 2009 with a bachelor’s degree in accounting.

Okawa Shaznay acted in her first film, Master DJ, produced in Cameroon in 2004 by Sarabi Pictures, before heading to the United States.
While in Houston, she joined the All Africa Theatre Group and spent two summers on the road with them, performing an adaptation of Chinua Achebe’s Things Fall Apart.
Since then, she has starred in more than 10 African films in the United States, working alongside some of the top stars in the Nigerian film industry. In 2010, Okawa Shaznai began to make a splash in the American African film industry and was named one of the 50 Cameroonians to watch in 2010 by the British blog Dulce Camer.
Okawa Shaznai later returned to Africa and landed her first big screen role in the film “The Liar” directed by renowned director Frank Raja Alase. Also, in 2014, she starred in her first movie in Nigeria, the hit film “Iyore” which was released in theaters in 2015, co-starring Nigerian movie superstars Rita Dominic and Joseph Benjamin.
She is one of the few fast-rising Cameroonian actors in the African film industry today, having played the lead role in the 2016 television series Delilah.
She also starred in the 2016 film Refugees, which was filmed in Ghana in 2012 but completed in Atlanta, USA in late 2013.
