Olivia Rodrigo reveals why she was almost arrested at the border patrol

On October 29 appeared on Tonight’s programsuperstar Olivia Rodrigo shared a cryptic anecdote with Jimmy Fallon about her recent encounter with the border patrol.

Mistaken for someone named Olivia Rodriguez, the 21-year-old female singer was almost arrested because she mistakenly had a criminal record. “We were going from Canada to Portland or something,” she recalls. “We were at the border checkpoint, and I gave them my passport and they said, ‘Okay, whatever.’ And they knocked on the door [of the tour bus] and they said, ‘We need Olivia.'”

The male singer thought the police wanted to get an autograph for his family and was shocked to find an officer with a big gun. She added: “It’s 3am and I’m delirious.” “He said, ‘Have you ever been arrested?’ I was like, ‘No, I haven’t been arrested yet.’ He said, ‘Are you sure?’ I feel like I’m gaslighting [myself]. I thought, ‘Oh my God, maybe I was caught and I didn’t know it.'”

After “nearly having a panic attack”, the officer quickly realized that he was confusing Rodrigo with a girl the same age named Olivia Rodriguez, who had been arrested multiple times.

The “Get a Driver’s License” singer also shared some background information about a recent incident in the middle of her concert, when she almost fell through a trap door during a show in Australia.

Although she appeared normal at the time, she revealed that the fall was actually quite scary. “Watching the video again was pretty scary,” she shared with Fallon. “But that’s showbiz, honey.” She reassured that she was taken to the hospital immediately after the show to make sure she didn’t have a concussion and noted that everything was fine.
