Early life
This gorgeous model was born on August 1, 1980 to Mr. and Mrs. Onweagba.
Her father is a civil servant while her mother works as a nurse.
She has four siblings – two boys and two girls.
Career
Oluchi’s career began in 1997 when she was 17. Her friend encouraged her to attend the M-Net Face Of Africa preliminary screening. The event was held at the M-Net offices, in Victoria Island, Lagos.
The company was responsible for training her to become one of the contestants representing Nigeria in the 1998 Face Of Africa contest. This was the first edition.
Luckily, she became the winner of the contest.
Soon after, she moved to New York and began appearing on the editorial pages of many magazines such as Vogue, Maire Claire, Allure, Nylon, Elle, Surface and many others.
She has walked the runways for fashion brands such as Tommy Hilfiger, Chanel, Gucci, Givenchy, Fendi, Christian Dior, Giorgio Armani, Nina Ricci.
She has also appeared in advertising campaigns for brands such as Coca-Cola, Victoria’s Secret, L’Oreal, Banana Republic, Express, Gap.
Steven Meisel, David LaChapelle, Nick Knight are examples of some of the notable photographers she has worked with.
She founded a South African modeling agency called OModel Africa in 2008. The agency currently has offices in Cape Town and Johannesburg.
She is currently the host and head judge of Africa’s Next Top Model.
Personal life
Oluchi married Italian fashion designer Luca Orlandi in 2008. They have two sons together.
The 44-year-old volunteered with several NGOs in Nigeria, including LEAP Africa, and her goal is to inspire young people, especially girls, to pursue their dreams.
