Liam Payne was troubled by his issues with his fiancée Maya Henry before his death on Wednesday.

Payne was found dead in Argentina on Wednesday after falling from the third floor of his hotel. He is 31 years old.

In the days leading up to his tragic death, the former One Direction star was “incredibly overwhelmed by all the legal issues” he was facing, an anonymous insider told PEOPLE.

According to sources, these matters concern Henry, who had her lawyer send Payne a cease-and-desist letter last week.

The influencer, who was previously engaged to the late singer, accused Payne of repeatedly contacting her, her friends and her family after their 2022 split, the Daily Mail reported.

Earlier this month, Henry made explosive allegations against Payne while responding to backlash from fans for mentioning his name in a recent video.

In her TikTok video, she alleged that the “Strip That Down” hitmaker would use many different phone numbers to “blow up” her and her loved ones’ phones.

Henry also claimed Payne allegedly preyed on loyal One Direction fans who “won’t tell on him”.

Henry has yet to publicly address Payne’s death.

However, an anonymous source shared some details about the model’s reaction, telling the Daily Mail that she was “shocked”.

Payne is survived by son Bear, 7, whom he shared with ex Cheryl Cole.
