Once unlocked, head to the Car Storage tab and research the first node, the Side Storage. This research requires 0.5 stabilization energy. After completing your research, you will have blueprints for building side storage modules. To build the side enclosures, you’ll need 2 pieces of scrap metal, 4 pieces of tape, and 12 pieces of fabric. These modules are designed to attach to the side racks you previously unlocked. Each side storage module adds 43 storage slots, divided into three boxes.
It is important to note that you can attach up to four side enclosures to a single side rack. To increase the size of your backpack, you need to go to Oppy’s Auto Shop and build a new workbench. At the Crafting Station, find the Equipment Station, identified by the backpack icon. Before building this station, make sure you have unlocked the Matter Deconstructor, which requires 35 Scrap Metal, 4 Gears, 4 Electronics, and 0.8 Stable Energy. The Outfitting Station itself costs 7 Scrap Metal, 15 Plastic, 2 Chemicals, 2 Gas Cylinders, and 0.3 Stable Energy.
Once the Equipment Station is built, interact with it to explore the upgrades available for your equipment. At the top of the options you’ll find the Medium Backpack (requires 20 cloth). This upgrade increases your backpack’s inventory space to 66 slots and provides 6 quick slots, giving you more space to carry essential items on your trip to Pacific Avenue.
