Richard Stevenson Parker Jr. was born on June 4, 1952 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States, to actress Sarah Meade and investment advisor Richard Stevenson Parker Sr. She has appeared in many television commercials. Stevenson has an older brother, Hutch Parker, who is a film producer.
When he was 5 years old, he went with his mother to watch a movie shoot, which led to the opportunity to appear on television. However, his father discouraged him from acting and moved the family to Rye, New York.
He attended Rye Country Day School and Brooks School as a child. After graduating from high school in 1971, Stevenson enrolled at Princeton University in New Jersey to study architecture, and he also acted in several plays while a student at the Brooks School.
