Early life
Enoch Adeboye was born on 2 March 1942 in the area known as ‘Ifewara’, located in Osun state, Nigeria.
The famous pastor comes from a poor family. Adeboye once described how poverty affected their family.
He say, ‘We were so poor that even other poor families called ours poor.’ He is related to Esther Adetoun.
Education
Pastor Enoch Adeboye began his educational journey in 1956, where he studied at Ilesha Grammar School, located in Ilesha, Osun State, Nigeria. After primary and secondary school, he continued his studies at the University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN) in Nsukka, Enugu State, Nigeria.
Because of the ongoing civil war, he chose to study at Obafemi Awolowo University and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics in 1967. It was in 1967 that he married the woman he loved named Foluke Adenike.
The couple has four children: (Late) Dare Adeboye, Adeolu Adeboye, Bolu Adubi Adeboye and Leke Adeboye. In 1969, Pastor Enoch Adeboye earned a master’s degree in hydrodynamics from the University of Lagos, Nigeria.
In 1975, he received his Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics at the University of Lagos, Nigeria. His academic success helped him become a Professor of Mathematics at the University of Lagos.
Career
Set
In 1973, Enoch Adeboye became a member of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, where he worked as an Interpreter, before being hired by senior pastor, Pa. Josiah Olufemi Akindayomi, ordained as a pastor at RCCG in 1975.
In 1981, Enoch Adeboye became the General Overseer of the church. During the first three years, he held a part-time role in Ilorin due to his job as a professor at UNILAG. He then resigned from his job to preach full-time.
Pastor Enoch Adeboye is widely known as a prosperity evangelist, which confirms the claims that he is indeed a prosperity evangelist. According to Pastor Enoch Adeboye;
‘Pentecostals have such an impact because they talk about the here and now and not just the moment, while we have to worry about heaven, there are some things God can do for us here. here (on earth) and now.’
The church became famous under the leadership of pastor Enoch Adeboye, who stated that his goal was to ensure that there was a church within a 5-minute drive of every developed city and 5 minutes away. in cities that are still developing.

Personal life
Pastor Enoch Adeboye married Mrs. Foluke Adeboye (his wife) on December 17, 1967.
He has 4 children (3 boys, 1 girl) and grandchildren. One of his sons known as ‘Dare Adeboye’ died on May 4, 2021. Dare belatedly passed away at the age of 42.
