This company specializes in providing contract mining services for Vaal Reefs Gold Mineincluding tasks such as cleaning gold dust from mines. Notably, Motsepe introduced an innovative worker pay system that offered a modest base salary combined with a profit-sharing bonus.
In 2003, Patrice Motsepe founded Ubuntu-Botho Ventures (UBI) and then entered into a business partnership with Sanlaman insurance and financial services company, according to a Black Economic Empowerment (BEE) in 2004. The decade-long deal ended in 2014, when UBI repaid the entire loan from SanlamAs a result, UBI acquired a 13.5% stake in Sanlam while retaining 18.1% of voting shares BEE partner.
