Patrick Wayne Swayze (August 18, 1952 – September 14, 2009), better known by his stage name Patrick Swayze, was an American actor, singer, dancer, and musician. He is best known for his roles in films such as Ghost and Dirty Dancing.
He was awarded the Rolex Dance Award in 2009 for writing and recording the hit song “She’s Like the Wind.” In 1991, People magazine named him the Sexiest Man Alive.

Early life and education
Patrick Swayze was born Patrick Wayne Swayze in Houston, Texas on August 8, 1952. He is a United States citizen and is of mixed heritage. His religion is Buddhism.
His father’s name is Jesse Wayne Swayze, and his mother’s name is Patsy Swayze. Patrick Swayze’s mother is a choreographer who runs her own dance school in Houston.
His father worked as a painter for a chemical plant engineer. His older sister, Vickie Lynn Swayze, committed suicide after drinking too much. His other siblings are Don Swayze, Bambi Swayze, and Sean Kyle Swayze.
Patrick Swayze graduated from Waltrip High School in Houston and then attended San Jacinto College in Pasadena, Texas.
Career
Patrick Swayze began his career as a dancer in the Disney Theatrical Group’s Disney on Parade. He then played Danny Zuko in the long-running Broadway show Grease as one of the replacements.
In 1979, he made his acting debut in the film ‘Skatetown USA.’ In 1981, he appeared in the touching film MONES*H episode Blood Brothers. In the 1987 film ‘Dirty Dancing’, he played a dance teacher at Jonny Castle.
He received a nomination for the song “She’s Like the Wind” from the film “She’s Like the Wind”, which became a top ten hit and was covered by many musicians. In 1990, he had a memorable cameo in the American romantic fantasy horror film ‘Ghost’, and a year later, People Magazine named him ‘TheSexiest Man Alive.’ In the fantasy dance, he co-starred with his wife, Lisa Niemi.
Sadly, he broke both of his legs while filming the HBO movie “Letters from the Killer” in 1998. He fell off his horse and hit a tree. In December 2003, he starred in the movie ‘Billy Flynn.’
Patrick Swayze played Allan Quatermain in King Solomon’s Mines in 2004 and appeared as an unnamed dance teacher in the Dirty Dancing prequel Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights. On 27 July 2006, he made his West End stage debut as Nathan Detroit in the musical Guys and Dolls.
In The Fox and the Hound 2 (2006), he voiced Cash, the dog of a country band, and in 2007, he starred in the film Christmas in Wonderland. In Powder Blue (2008), he played an aging rock star.
In the A&E FBI drama series, The Beast, he played FBI agent Charles Barker. Shortly after filming the first episode of The Beast, he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, but continued to work on the show while undergoing treatment. The Beast is a one-season television series that premiered on January 15, 2009.
Personal life
On June 12, 1975, Patrick Swayze married Lisa Anne Haapaniemi Swayze DePrisco. They first met at his mother’s dance studio.
They were unable to have any children. Lisa Niemi was reportedly pregnant early in their marriage, but the couple were unable to have children. Before his death, the couple had a good life together.
