Andreas returned to Tassin in 1525 to find the town in chaos due to heavy taxes imposed by the abbot. When the rebel leader is killed, Andreas investigates again and discovers that similar cryptic text messages have been sent before to incite violence. He charged a suspect who was killed by angry townspeople. The rebellion led to chaos and the monastery and its library were set on fire. Andreas was presumed dead while trying to save the books.

In 1545, players control the young artist Magdalene. Her father is attacked, so she takes over his job, painting a mural about Tassin’s history. Magdalene discovers that Andreas has survived and is living as a hermit.

They discover a secret Roman temple beneath the church and learn that the town’s priest, Thomas, planned the murder to conceal Tassin’s true history. When Thomas pulled down the temple and sacrificed himself, Andreas and Magdalene escaped. Magdalene completed the mural, but her father died from his injuries. She decided to leave Tassin while Andreas stayed and started over.
