Persona 4 Wiki
Persona 4 is a 2008 video game produced by Atlus. It is part of a larger series called Megami Tensei. People outside of Japan know it as Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4. The game was released first in Japan, then in North America, and finally on the PlayStation 2 in Europe.
This was a big deal for the PlayStation 2 before the PlayStation 3 was released again in 2014. The game takes place in a fictional rural village in Japan and has some connections to earlier Persona games. You play as a high school student who moves from the city to the countryside for a year. There, you team up with friends to solve murder mysteries and use something called a “persona,” which is like a representation of your inner self.

Persona 4 Gameplay
In Persona 4, you are in charge of a high school student who has been living in Inaba Town for a year. The game is divided into Inaba’s daily life and the “TV World”, a strange place full of monsters. You decide what to do each day – maybe join a club, work a part-time job, or explore a dungeon. But there’s a catch: If you don’t save someone in the TV world before the fog sets in after days of rain, it’s game over. You can also make friends and upgrade these bonds, called “Social Links,” which can help you in combat by increasing your power. The game is all about “characters,” these cool avatars of your inner self with unique skills.
You can switch them during combat to use different moves. By merging monsters in the Velvet Room, you can create new characters that become stronger as you progress. In the TV world, you can assemble a team and fight against the Shadows in turn-based combat, trying to exploit your enemies’ weaknesses for extra moves. Knocking down all enemies may trigger an epic “all-out attack.” After a battle, you can gain experience, money, and items, and sometimes play mini-games for additional perks. It’s a blend of everyday life, making friends and fighting monsters – very exciting!

Persona 4 Guide
To fully experience Persona 4 Golden, you must first strive for the best ending on your first playthrough. Make the choice that brings the best outcome, and don’t worry, you’ll see all the different endings later. Build strong bonds with everyone you meet by maximizing your social connections, and if you want, try dating all the girls – although it’s totally fine to be friends with them too!
Explore everything the game has to offer. Participate in all events except the Summer Festival, complete every quest you come across, and read all available books. Don’t forget to challenge yourself with the Giant Beef Bowl and defeat the tough optional boss Reaper.
The second time you play New Game Plus, focus on completing the Persona Compendium and defeating the secret boss. Collect and register various skill cards and explore different storylines for school clubs and alternate routes, especially for fellow athletes. Dive into your summer festival options, master all your cycling skills and make sure you ace every test. This time around, the goal is to earn specific in-game achievements and trophies tied to the game’s storyline for a well-rounded experience.
If you play the game on PS4, Xbox or Switch, please pay attention to the “Bind Album” feature. It lets you replay cutscenes, but it may not include everything, so you may still want to play through it a second time to discover specific content. Remember, the purpose of Persona 4 Golden is to enjoy the journey and uncover all the stories it has to offer. Good luck with your gaming adventures!
