However, the first two times he was fired, Pharrell said it was due to laziness.
“The first two times was just because I was lazy. The third time was ‘What are you doing? Are you just sitting there eating nuggets?'” he revealed.
While the food service industry may not be right for the musician, he has found a successful career outside of it. His breakthrough work was as part of The Neptunes with Chad Hugo. Together, the duo created hits such as “Drop It Like It’s Hot”, “Hollaback Girl”, “Hot in Herre” and “Rock Your Body”.
However, Pharrell also has a successful solo career outside of his work with The Neptunes. He appeared on Billboard Hot 100 with single “Blurred Lines” with Robin Thicke. He also scored a solo No. 1 with “Happy,” which dominated for 10 weeks.
The song has since sold 13.9 million copies and become one of the best-selling singles in history. Additionally, CNN reported that the song went on to be declared the most played song on British radio in 2010.

His other solo work includes the song “Get Lucky” with musician Daft Punk.
“When I was about 40, that’s when ‘Get Lucky,’ ‘Blurred Lines,’ ‘Happy,’ all happened in the same year,” Pharrell told Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1.
“And these are all songs that make more commissions, like, one day I woke up and decided I was going to write about X, Y and Z,” he continued.
In addition to his music work, Pharrell also became a fashion mogul and founded his own labels with Billionaire Boys Club and Ice Cream.
