His parents hoped that he would become a famous engineer.
So they enrolled him at SJ Van Der Merwe Technical High School in Lebowakgomo, Limpopo, where he studied automotive mechanics and obtained a diploma.
However, Phathutshedzo ‘Phathu’ Makwarela decided that his passion was not engineering but television and that he needed to change his career path in the direction he had always wanted.
So he asked his uncle to help convince his parents to allow him to pursue a career in television.
After they agreed, he applied to Tshwane University of Technology in Pretoria to study television and film production.
